ITIL for Government

I recently started reading the book, IT Service Management from Hell by Brian Johnson and Paul Wilkinson.  The book is a humor-filled journey through project management and IT service management.  I think for the most part the book was written with the Project Manager in mind that either had some working knowledge of ITSM or was already a seasoned pro.  My favorite thing about this book are the countless number of comics and funny quotes in the book.  I thought I’d share my top 5 comic quotes.

“What does the DO stand for?  Simple, DO unto the users before they DO unto you.”  Project Manager pointing to the Deming Circle on Page 96

“A famous American president had a sign on his desk that proclaimed ‘the buck stops here.’  As a project manager we live by the maxim ‘the buck stops there.’”  Page 43

“Six days to make the world?  It’ll take me a week to get the bloody parts.” Page 37

“The difference between a project and a story is that a story has a beginning, a middle, and an END!”  Page 24
